In his fight for gay-rights he isn’t trying to one-up the vast heterosexual majority by over throwing them and getting homosexuals to run the world, he is merely trying to get them to see that homosexuals are no different from any other person. Harvey Milk was trying to break down the social barriers that led to narrow minded thinking of just one social norm. In Milk during one of the public rally’s he had, Harvey said that â€Å"all men are created equal. No matter how hard you try, you can never erase those words† – he believed these words with all his heart. To Harvey Milk, he wasn’t just fighting for gay-rights; he was fighting for a way of life that did not constrict its citizens to conform to just one social norm. Milk, Gus Van Sant’s film project that was close to two decades in the making, was released on the 26th of November 2008 and marks the 30th anniversary of Harvey Milk’s death and the brief but brilliant political career he led. As such they immerse themselves into a fictional world where they can forget and avoid the reality in which they live. On the other hand in television and films, people are passive spectators however, it is argued that television violence may in fact be a greater concern as on average, most people watch more television. Thus, for children who are regularly exposed to television violence it could have a worse or similar effect to video games (Berger 2002). Some scholars argue however that violence in television, films and video games has in fact the opposite effect. As individuals become ‘saturated’ with violence, it can lead to a catharsis where videogames, television and films become a safe outlet to for aggressive feelings and emotions; as a result, individuals become less violent. Naturally, this argument goes against the idea that children are highly influenced by modelled behaviour as they try to replicate what they see (Freedman 2001). The influence of video games is therefore highly complex to resolve. Poole (2000) therefore argues that videogames may simply be part of many factors that lead to violent behaviour. Videogames as films and television may influence real life violence by having a particular style that is imitated. Pool argues that it is possible that the teenage murderers in America may have imitated the way in which people are killed in the video game Doom, however it is not possible to say that without playing the game they would not have killed their classmates. Research conducted in America reiterates this statement, violent video games may be one risk factor when coupled with other more immediate, real-world influences — which can contribute to anti-social behavior. But no research has found that video games are a primary factor or that violent video game play could turn an otherwise normal person into a killer (Jenkins 2006, website). The documentary follows several patients who have a variety of diseases including type 2 diabetes and breast cancer, and when they switch to be vegans they show tremendous positive health progress (Forks over Knives). Anyone who says, â€Å"Animals were placed on this world for us to eat,† can be regarded as a complete moron. Human beings are also not preordained to digest meat proteins. The moment the food go into the mouth, it begins the digestion process. Conversely, our saliva, which is alkaline, is never acidic enough to digest animal proteins. Our intestines are also extremely long; therefore, the unrefined meat is left to settle in our intestines to decay and convert into obese (Klaper, Michael). It is so nauseating to think that the cheeseburger you ate days ago is still residing in your intestines. Green veggies are great sources of iron and calcium. Even though meat and milk may have more calcium and iron within them, the body essentially incorporates more of the vitamin from the vegetables. They also diminish the amount of iron and calcium that is lost. Calcium is a significant cog to stout bones, and iron is a haulier of oxygen in red blood cells in the body. Zinc is the doctor of your body; as it combats off illness and restores wounds. Whole grains and nuts source your body with healthy echelons of zinc (Craig, Winston J.). Vexed that vegans do not get adequate protein? That is not a concern. There are many alternatives to animal proteins such as beans, tofu, nuts, lentils, and legumes; all of which are much healthier for you. The dental formula that humans have is more of herbivore than carnivore type. And more, we do not want as much protein as we meditate we do. It is projected that we only need between 20 and 60 grams of protein daily. (Klaper, Michael)Vegans still get extra of the amount of protein they need on a daily basis. I admit protein is good for our bodies. However, we do not need it in extreme amounts. Lastly, if we truly want to lessen the human impact on the environment, the meekest and cheapest thing everyone become a vegan and eat no meat. Behind schedule most of the joints of chicken or beef on our plates is a remarkably wasteful, land- and energy-hungry system of agriculture that pollutes oceans, devastates forests, rivers, airs and seas, depends on coal and oil, and is ominously accountable for climate change. Climatic change affects the health of humans to a certain degree (Smil, Vaclav). Health is crucial in every way, therefore, Americans as part of the social order should be vegans.
